  • When I first joined Bath CC in 2013 the firs thing I did was check the forum out for routes that I could load onto my bike computer and ride to get a feel for the terrain and area. If you've a particular route that you know, love and want to share with the club then add it here (as a URL to a service like Strava or RideWithGPS).

Warning: Be sure not to post a route that starts and/or finishes at home, or where your bikes are kept. This site is available to the public and unscrupulous thieves are cleverer than you might think.

  • FYI, I wrote a web app long ago to plot and view routes on Ordnance Survey maps, for those who prefer them to Google.

There is an elevation profile and you can recalculate elevation from imported gpx routes. Export to and import from GPX file works fine, but saving a route to the web broke a while ago. Its overdue a rewrite..

  • I've since found that routes posted here on ridewithgps.com will format nicely a la: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2548849

  • Nice. I wrote an embed app too, e.g. http://hotchillitri.co.uk/big-t-enduro/#¬≠map-bike

I'll eventually merge with the planning app. As I say, just an alternative for OS maps.

  • If you wanted to create a product that's not currently catered for more generally: we're having some issues route-planning CX rides. Maps routing on bridleways etc. would be awesome :D

  • It already does; just toggle the mode between ride (follows roads) and walk (straight line, point-to-point). OS maps already show bridleways

    :)

I'll take a look at a rewrite to get the back end storage working, so that routes can be easily saved and then embedded.
